When a BCLT unit becomes available, we refer to our waitlist for that specific type of housing. The first applicant on the list who meets the income and household size requirements will be contacted, based on the configuration of the available unit.
Please note that only complete applications will be considered. Applicants are responsible for ensuring their application is complete, including up-to-date contact and income information. If your contact information changes, it is your responsibility to notify BCLT to avoid missing housing opportunities.
Household size guidelines are required to comply with local water restrictions. For example, if a studio apartment becomes available, we only contact households with two or fewer individuals. For a two-bedroom apartment, we contact households with at least two individuals, and so on.
-
Our waitlist is divided into five categories based on housing type. This helps streamline the selection process and ensures applicants are only offered units that match their needs.
If an applicant’s income or household size makes them ineligible for a specific category, we will notify them that they currently do not qualify for the available units. However, they will remain on the list, so if their circumstances change, they can retain their position without needing to reapply.
The categories are as follows:
SRO/Second units or studio spaces: Available for single occupancy or up to two individuals.
One-bedroom units: Available for households of up to three individuals.
Multiple bedroom units: Available for households of at least two individuals.
Co-op living units: Available for a variety of household sizes, depending on the space.
Homeownership: Available for a variety of household sizes, depending on space and eligibility for homeownership.
